Epaulettes

Epaulettes are a type of ornamental shoulder piece or decoration used to identify a persons rank or position. The Armed Forces use Epaulettes to identify rank. The most common form of epaulette is that of a cloth square embroidered with a rank symbol or text. These are then fastened to the shoulder with a buttoned should strap.
