Ultra violet (or UV) rays from the sun can affect the eyes and skin no matter where you are - even the North Pole. It's a simple equation, if you can see the sun, then UV rays are a danger. In the middle of summer, those UV rays can even penetrate cloud cover and do significant damage. To protect your eyes, you need a good pair of sunglasses.
