Being a Cadet in the UK is one way of developing teamwork, leadership and strong citizenship ties for youngsters without having to commit to any long term military ties. In fact, being a Cadet has proved to be the making of many youngsters, helping them break out of traits such as shyness and being easily intimidated. While being a Cadet is a serious undertaking, it's not necessarily a cheap one.
